The Bahraini dinar (BHD) is a currency you can hold, so suppliers in Bahrain can be paid in dinars by SWIFT from a BHD balance. The Central Bank of Bahrain pegs the dinar to the US dollar, and like the Kuwaiti and Omani currencies it is divided into 1,000 fils, so amounts carry three decimal places.
Bahraini accounts use a 22-character IBAN starting BH: a 4-letter bank code — the first four letters of the bank’s SWIFT code — and a 14-character account number. Bahraini banks close on Friday and Saturday.
