What it means for payments
We pay out GBP by SWIFT, and you can hold GBP in your balance. When CHAPS / Faster Payments is closed, the beneficiary’s bank credits the payment on its next business day. Payments that pass through a US correspondent also wait for the Fedwire calendar.
The value date is the day the money is available to the beneficiary. A closing day on either side of a payment, sender’s or receiver’s, pushes it back. Timings are typical, never guaranteed.
