What it means for payments
Euro payments by SEPA settle only on TARGET business days. On a closing day no SEPA transfer settles, so a payment released that day is credited on the next TARGET business day. The same days close the euro leg of any SWIFT payment in euro.
The value date is the day the money is available to the beneficiary. A closing day on either side of a payment, sender’s or receiver’s, pushes it back. Timings are typical, never guaranteed.
